Tewatia's wife attempts suicide, critical

Nutan Tewatia, wife of Manvir Tewatia, attempted suicide on Saturday. She allegedly tried to hang herself at her home in Greater Noida. She has been admitted in the ICU of a city hospital and is in a critical condition, the police said.

Farmers' leader Manvir Tewatia hit headlines during the clash between the police and farmers in Bhatta Parsaul villages in 2011.

The police received information about the suicide bid around 6.15 pm. Relatives rushed her to the hospital and doctors have put her on a ventilator.

"She is not in a condition to talk and the family are not clear about the sequence of events which led to the suicide," said Brijesh Kumar, superintendent of police, Greater Noida.
