The reigning National Billiards champion of India Alok Kumar stormed into the finals of the Asian Billiards championship after defeating Peter Gilchrist, a former Asian and World Champion from Singapore, 5-2.

From the beginning, Alok, who had earlier defeated his compatriot and seven-time World Champion Pankaj Advani in the quarterfinal, was in complete hold as he exhibited high quality show to go up 3-0.

However, Gilchrist came back strongly in the fourth round and reduced the deficit by winning it, while the Indian once again clinched the fifth.

And although Gilchrist went on to win the sixth round but it was enough to stop a highly spirited Alok, who eventually won the match with an unfinished break of 72 in the seventh game.

Alok will be meeting the winner of the match between Kyaw Oo of Myanmar and C Praprut of Thailand in Thursday's final.

Scoreline: 102(67)-71(62 ); 101-87; 100(100)-0; 14-102(77); 102(98)-34; 0-101(83); 100(72)-13).
