The Police Sports Control Board (PSCB) is on the verge of facing another one-year ban from domestic competition after three of its top lifters were caught for doping during the All India Police lifting meet in Jammu recently.

Last year, the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) had debarred PSCB lifters from domestic events after three positive cases. The 12-month ban is scheduled to end on April 15.

An IWF official said the urine samples collected by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) in Jammu had tested positive for banned substances, and if the 'B' samples too came out positive, PSCB will be banned for one more year.

Despite stringent rules by the IWF to check the menace of doping, the number of dope cheats has gone up in domestic competitions. Recently, eight lifters failed dope tests during the Railway inter-departmental competition. It was followed by nine positive cases during the junior and youth national meet in Haryana.
