Led by Prachi Tehlan, Indians never really had a chance as their opponents continued to put pressure and dominated right from the start.

Such was the pressure that India swapped their main defender Neha Bajaj to goal shooter to take advantage of her height against the Papua New Guniea top scorers.

India finished 12th, while Papua New Guniea took the 11th spot in netball.

Tehlan said it was a learning experience for India. "This competition for us was more about getting the knowledge and experience of the game at the highest level than winning a medal. We realised that we have improved a lot and will keep practising for the future matches," the Indian skipper said after their loss.

Defending champions New Zealand will face Jamaica, while Australia will take on England in the semifinals tomorrow.
