Wrestler Narender Singh bagged gold in the 11th World Fire-fighting Games held in Daegu (South Korea) from August 21-29.

He defeated Dutch grappler Dvorak Oldrich in the quarterfinals of the 120kg Greco-Roman category. The grappler, who hails from Kair village in Najafgarh then went on to beat Roman Lapkin of Azerbaijan in the semifinal, and in the final, overcame the challenge of Gholamreza Yazdani 3-1. A total of 50 wrestlers took part in the event.

Narender is a fire operator at the Connaught Place Fire Station.
