Renjith did not face much of a problem before clinching the gold medal with a leap of 16.97m, bettering his own meet record of 16.68m set in 2009 at Bhopal.

The national record also stands in his name at 17.04m created in 2007. Amarjeet Singh, also from RSPB, with 16.18m took home the silver while B Bhaskar of Tamil Nadu laid his hands on bronze at 15.91m. Defending champion RSPB’s domination was such that they won four golds, five silver and five bronze in the nine events held on Saturday.

Favourite and international star Seema Antil of Haryana, won the Women’s Discus throw rather comfortably without any challenge. She threw the discus to 53.05m to clinch the gold.
