Sun adds world title to Olympic crown

Sun, 21, added the world title to the Olympic crown he claimed a year ago, and just as he did in the London 2012 final, Yang dominated from early on in Barcelona.
The Chinese clocked 3min 41.59sec to claim the world title, finishing more than three seconds ahead of Hagino, who swam 3:44.82, while Jaeger finished in 3:44.85.
Phelps visits
Michael Phelps turned up to watch the world championships with his foot in a hefty support brace after injuring it on the golf course. "It's just a fracture nothing bad, we're being very cautious right now," Phelps, who retired after last year's London Olympics, said in an interview posted on the website of swimming governing body Fina (www.fina.org) on Sunday.
"So I guess it is true you can get hurt on the golf course," added the 28-year-old Baltimore native, who won 18 Olympic golds and 26 world championship titles in his glittering career. He did not elaborate on how he sustained the fracture.
Thorpe injury
Sydney: Aussie Olympic swimming champion Ian Thorpe's dream of swimming at another Olympics may be over as a shoulder injury has forced the 30-year-old to abandon any hopes of competing at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Ian Thorpe revealed that although he would continue to swim, he thought that he would not be able to get back to a position where he was at the top of the sport.
The report said that the five-time Olympic champion would still train with coach Gennadi Touretski purely for the love of swimming.
Thorpe knew his swimming career was in jeopardy several months ago, but still held out hope until recent days, even telling the media early last week that he wouldn't rule out Rio, the report added.
