Sushil Ghale shoots down national record

Sushil Ghale of Army Marksmanship Unit broke the national record in the Big Bore 300m peep sight free rifle event in the 53rd National Shooting Championship at the Infantry School ranges here. Ghale shot 598/600, reports Rajesh Jauhri.

AMU's Sukhdev Singh held the previous record of 596/600 set in 2004.

The Nationals got underway on Monday and will conclude on Wednesday. In all, five events will be held during the three-day event — 300m peep sight sports rifle prone (men), 300m peep sight sports rifle prone (women), 300m peep sight sports rifle 3P (men), 300m peep sight sports rifle 3P (women) and 300m peep sight standard rifle 3P.

More than 100 shooters from various states, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Border Security Force, State Police and Central Industrial Security Force are taking part in the competition.
