The 31-year-old Delhi shooter, after making it to the finals placed third with 145 points, shot a 50/50 to aggregate 195 to be just one point adrift of the Final World Record held by China’s Hu Binyuan.

“After a none-too-impressive performance in the Dorset (England) World Cup, it’s a great feeling to have won gold in the Mecca of shooting.

“My next target is to secure a London Olympic Games quota at the World Championships in Munich later this year.

“Last time I was unlucky to miss the quota, but this time around I want to secure it as early as possible,” said Sodhi for whom this was the second World Cup gold.
