He scored 292 out of a possible 360 marks, achieving the feat at the age of 13 and a half years, a new record doing so at a young age.
Satyam, born on July 20, 1999, had taken the entrance examination for the IIT's at the age of 12 after securing special permission and secured a rank of 8,137 overall.

Not satisfied, he had appeared in the preliminaries to qualify among 1.5 lakh other candidates to write the final examination.
Given his educational successes, the CBSE, which conducts the examination, had modified its rules to allow him to appear at the examination last year. It did so, this year, too.

Satyam, who had to score just 113 to be in the main examination but actually got 292, will now appear in the final examination for entrance to be held on June 2 next. His roll number is 85906640.

The boy wonder was felicitated last year by several outstanding personalities, including cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar and actress Aishwarya Rai.
