A Dalit man was lynched by powerful landowners in Bihar's Madhepura district over a dispute related to the Panchayat polls, police said on Wednesday.

Nago Rishidev, 45, a landless labourer, died on Tuesday after he was beaten up by landowners and their henchmen in Maura Kaviyati village, about 250 km from Patna.

Nago's relatives said he was beaten to death over a dispute related to Panchayat by-elections.

A complaint was lodged with the police against four people but no one has been arrested yet.
