Bihar’s don-turned-politician and independent MLA Anant Singh was on Tuesday booked in a murder case.

Singh, who has at least 16 criminal cases pending against him, along with his two other accomplices were named as accused in an FIR filed by a village head, whose husband, Ramjanam Yadav was shot dead in a train on Saturday night. The FIR has been lodged with the Barh, Government Railway Police (GRP) station.

Yadav, who too has several cases against him, was shot dead by assailants when he was heading home on the Hatia-Patliputra Express .

“Yes, we have received an FIR in connection with a murder in the moving train on Saturday. The victim’s widow has named the legislator and two others as the killers. A probe is on into the allegations. The accused will not be spared no matter how influential he or she may be,” said Patna rail SP, Jitendra Mishra.

Calling the complaint against him a political conspiracy, Singh denied having any involvement in the murder. “Neither I know Ramjanam Yadav nor have I seen him anytime. The murder charges are outlandish,” he said.
