Dr Basant Singh new AKNSIMS director
Well known cardiologist Dr Basant Singh has been elected as the director of Dr AKN Sinha Institute of Medical Sciences for the year 2012-13.
Well known cardiologist Dr Basant Singh has been elected as the director of Dr AKN Sinha Institute of Medical Sciences for the year 2012-13.
Dr Singh, who is currently chairman of the IMA academy of medical specialties, will be the first from Bihar to occupy the position. He will be installed at Kanya Kumari (Tamil Nadu) on December 27, 2012.
With Dr Singh becoming the head of the institute, the head office of this national body would shift to Bihar for the period of his term.
The institute set up after the late Dr AKN Sinha, provides advanced training to doctors in the pursuit to develop the skills of doctors in various fields.
Senior vice-president of the state IMA, Dr Sahjanand Prasad Singh said that Dr Basant Singh was elected on all India basis and would occupy the position for one year. Apart from being a recipient of several national and international awards, he is a fellow of the WHO and the UNICEF.
