Days after he catapulted himself onto the political centrestage with a rally in Delhi, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said an early Lok Sabha election was the only way out of the current political imbroglio.

“The current political situation is marked by complete chaos. Fresh poll seems to be the only way out of this,” Kumar said on Thursday.

“Look at what we have here. Parliament is not running properly. A Union minister makes an objectionable remark against the head of a party backing the government and the UPA chairperson has to apologise.”

Kumar’s advocacy of fresh polls is significant amid reports suggesting the UPA leadership is keen to line up fresh allies in the wake of the DMK’s pullout.

Kumar’s JD(U), with its 20 members in the Lok Sabha, is high on the list of potential allies.
