The woman was a first-year student at a college in Bikramganj, -- where she lived with her maternal grandfather – and fell in love with a local youth, officials said.

She recently came back to her parent’s house at Khetalpur – in Rohtas’ Sanjahuli block – after her examinations.

Her suitor followed her to the village but managed to escape after being threatened by her two cousin brothers – Rakesh Kumar and Sonu Kumar – who vehemently opposed her relationship and warned her to not encourage such liaisons.

But when she didn’t back down, the enraged duo stabbed and shot her on Saturday night around 8pm. They also killed her parents who had rushed to save her.

Police have launched a manhunt to arrest the two and the bodies have been sent for post mortem said station house officer Pradeep Kumar.
