India captain Shubman Gill was adjudged Player of the Match for his haul of 430 runs at Edgbaston. He scored 269 in the first innings and he backed this effort up with a knock of 161 in the second innings.  (AP)

England wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith was the top scorer for the hosts in the second innings as he hit a knock of 88 runs. He had also registered an unbeaten 184 in the first innings.  (AP)

After the end of the match, Akash Deep dedicated his performance to his elder sister. He revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer two months back. “Behen yeh tumare liye hai,” he said while speaking to the host broadcaster.  (AP)
