We’re starting with this one only because he came first. 1977’s Spider-Man wasn’t the greatest (clearly), but it did kick off the web slinger’s cinematic adventure.

This one’s a fan favourite. The Spider-Man animated series was a classic cartoon and for many, was their first time falling in love with the character.

And then came Spider-Man, the movie that made Spidey mainstream and Tobey Maguire a star. The popularity of this movie ensured that we would get a new big screen Spider-Man adventure every couple of years.

Spider-Man 2 is considered by many to be one of the best superhero movies ever made. It’s certainly the best one of the Tobey maguire series. And who can forget this amazing train chase sequence?

But the success was short-lived. Spider-Man 3 crammed in way to much and just didn’t work, both with fans and critics. It cut short Maguire’s series and we wouldn’t get a new movie for the next 5 years.

But in the meantime, we had Ultimate Spider-Man, the quirky, younger skewing show that featured Drake Bell as Spidey and the return of JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson.

In 2012, Andrew Garfield took on the iconic role in The Amazing Spider-Man, which turned out to be a divisive movie. But what viewers couldn’t deny was the chemistry between Garfield and Emma Stone. And the amazing web-slinging sequences.

And then The Amazing Spider-Man 2 killed the momentum. Once again, a Spidey sequel that tried to cram in too many characters and too much plot sunk the franchise.
