The Supreme Court on Wednesday said denying women entry into Kerala’s Sabarimala shrine was against the Constitutional mandate. A constitution bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justices Rohinton Fali Nariman, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra was hearing a plea whether prohibiting the entry of women in the temple on grounds of biological factors was discriminatory and violative of the Constitution. The local Met office said that Manali continued to be the coldest place in Himachal Pradesh as rain lashed some parts of the state in the last 24 hours. The high-altitude resort town also received the maximum rainfall of 28.4 mm in the last 24 hours, followed by Kufri hill station (18 mm), Shimla (10.9 mm) and Dharamshala (4.4 mm), said Manmohan Singh, director of Meteorological Centre, Shimla.
