India reopened on June 8 under Unlock 1-- the first phase of easing of restrictions in place under the coronavirus lockdown. Although coronavirus cases in India are rising at a rapid rate, the first phase of lifting lockdown restrictions included shopping malls, restaurants, and places of worship reopening to the public in most parts of the country. A stringent set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are also placed for public spaces reopening in non-containment zones to check the spread of the virus.
