In a relationship, people can experience symptoms of burnout. This usually shows up as a loss of excitement and a sense of detachment from the partner. "It typically arises from prolonged or intense stress or dissatisfaction, often due to unresolved conflicts, mismatched expectations, or a lack of reciprocity," wrote Therapist Carolyn Rubenstein.
