Very severe Cyclone Yaas makes landfall over Odisha, Bengal coasts

Cyclone Yaas made landfall around 9 am in the coastal districts of West Bengal. Northern Odisha coast is battered by heavy winds. One person has died in Odisha as heavy rain and strong winds batter the coastal districts of West Bengal since early morning.

The weather department has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand. "Light to moderate rainfall expected at most places with heavy to very heavy rains at few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places in Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapara, and Keonjhargarh today," the IMD said.
