18-year-old Pune teen murdered in Market Yard

The deceased teen was identified as Sunny Vilas Shinde, a resident of Annabhau Sathe Nagar in Araneshwar area. The three arrested were identified as Akash Mallesh Gaigole, 19; Surjeet Alasingh Kalani, 24 and Ritesh Sriram Balipathak, 32, according to the police.

Three persons were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly killing an 18-year-old in Market Yard area. The deceased teen was identified as Sunny Vilas Shinde, a resident of Annabhau Sathe Nagar in Araneshwar area. The three arrested were identified as Akash Mallesh Gaigole, 19; Surjeet Alasingh Kalani, 24 and Ritesh Sriram Balipathak, 32, according to the police.

While Gaigole and Balipathak are residents of Premnagar and Ambedkarnagar area of Market Yard respectively, Kalani is a resident of Shivtejnagar in Bibvewadi.

Balipathak and Gaigole had allegedly harassed a girl which resulted in a fight in the area. Sunny was in the area to question the two about the fight, according to the complaint filed in the case.

When Sunny was standing at a bus stop in Market Yard, the two assaulted him.

Kalani brought a serrated knife and assaulted Shinde on the left side of his chest, according to the police.

The teenager succumbed to his injuries on the spot and the incident happened around 6:30 pm in front of multiple witnesses.

A complaint in the matter was filed by the deceased teen's cousin brother Akash Shinde, 21, a resident of Dhayarigaon. A case under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the three on Monday. Police sub-inspector (PSI) RJ Honrao is investigating the case.
