19-year-old hangs self, man booked for stalking and abatement to suicide in Pune

A man from Hingoli was booked on Saturday night for allegedly driving a 19-year-old girl to commit suicide in Pune. The man was identified by the police only as Mayul, a resident of Akola bypass in Hingoli, according to police.
The victim and the suspects knew each other even before she moved to Pune last week. The girl lived as a paying guest in Ekta colony, Kothrud, but took the drastic step while at her friend's home in Hingne Khurd.
The girl hung herself on August 17 around 4.30 pm. Her body was sent for post mortem. The police received a complaint from the father of the girl who lives in Chakradhar nagar, Taroda Khurd, Nanded..
The victim’s father complained that the man had threatened to kill her family members if she refused to listen to him, the police said.A case under Sections 306 (abettement to suicide), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 354(d) (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Sinhagad road police station against Mayul.
"The girl knew the man from earlier days. We have not yet found him. The girl's father has submitted that the boy, whom he has never met, used to trouble her and drove her to commit suicide," said assistant police inspector Jyoti Gadkari of Abhiruchi police outpost under Sinhagad road police station.
The police are on a lookout for the man who does odd jobs according to preliminary information.
