A meditation drive with green cover initiatives in mind
The meditation and tree plantation session was organised with the objective to create awareness for a mass movement to plant trees and take responsibility to make Pune a green smart city
Members of Rohan Garima Housing Society in Model Colony were part of a session on meditation and relaxation, which was followed by a tree plantation drive on Saturday. These programmes were organised as part of the first anniversary celebrations of Pune edition of Hindustan Times.
The event was jointly organised by Hindustan Times and Heartfulness Institute and witnessed saplings of indigenous species being planted in and around the society.
Around 9.15 am, society members gathered at their clubhouse, and the session began with relaxing techniques taught by Anjali Bapat, a volunteer from the Heartfulness Institute.
During the programme, volunteers from the Heartfulness Institute spoke about the importance of meditation and relaxation techniques used by the Institute to enhance skills. The volunteers said that many such initiatives, promoting meditation and relaxation, are conducted by the Institute for free.
Speaking on the occasion, Bapat said, “By practising meditation daily, everyone can experience inner calmness and relaxation. We can easily reduce stress in our daily life by practising meditation. There is a need to bring about a change in lifestyle.”

“Thank you Hindustan Times for organising such a wonderful session at our society. We do experience stress in our day-to-day life and for which meditation and relaxation was a very useful session. Also with the help of Hindustan Times, we have participated in 13 crore tree plantation mission organised by the Maharashtra government,” said Hemant Palod, secretary, Rohan Garima Co-Operative Housing Society.
Meditation and the relaxing session was followed by a tree plantation drive wherein 10 saplings of an indigenous tree species were planted by Hemant Palod, Hanumant Dhumal, chairman of Rohan Garima Co-Operative Housing Society and residents.
The meditation and tree plantation session was organised with the objective to create awareness for a mass movement to plant trees and take responsibility to make Pune a green smart city.
