The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) wing of Pune has lodged an FIR against toll collection officials and staffers posted at the Chalakwadi toll booth on the Pune-Nashik highway on charges of attacking ACB sleuths who were on their way to carry out a raid on Tuesday.
The toll officials booked have been identified as Sanjay Lone, Anand, Pradeep Deshmukh and the staffer as Pandurang Randive. The suspects have been booked under IPC 353, 509, 323, 504, 506 and 34 after a complaint was lodged against them by deputy superintendent Kanchan Jadhav.
According to ACP Jagdish Satav of ACB, Pune, Dy SP Jadhav, police inspector (PI) Chandrakant Chaudhary and other ACB officials were on their way in a private vehicle to trap some suspects at Ale phata in a graft case based on a complaint lodged with the ACB. On reaching Chalakwadi toll booth, their vehicle was stopped for the toll.
Jadhav and all the ACB staff showed their government identity cards and said they were on officials work. The toll-booth staffers, instead of allowing them to proceed, are alleged to have insisted that their police identity cards were not valid which led to an altercation wherein they abused the police.
Toll officials then got involved and started arguing with the ACB officials. The ACB officials allege that their vehicle was attacked and obscene language was used against the women police officer on duty
