Father commits suicide after strangulating his two sons in Pune

The incident came to light when his wife came home for lunch and found the door locked from inside. She broke open the door latch and found her two sons, identified as Shubham Barman (6) and Roopam (4), in an unconscious state while her husband Deepak (35), was found hanging.

In a shocking incident, a father strangulated his two school-going sons and committed suicide by hanging himself to the roof ceiling of his house in Nrusingh colony in Tathawade in Wakad on Saturday afternoon.

Police suspect that Deepak got angry over his children while they all were having lunch and then strangulated both of them. After that, he took the extreme step and committed suicide. (HT REPRESENTATIVE PHOTO)

The incident came to light when his wife came home for lunch and found the door locked from inside. She broke open the door latch and found her two sons, identified as Shubham Barman (6) and Roopam (4), in an unconscious state while her husband Deepak (35), was found hanging. She called her neighbours for help and rushed her two sons to the nearby YCM hospital, but they were proclaimed dead on arrival.

Police suspect that Deepak got angry over his children while they all were having lunch and then strangulated both of them. After that, he took the extreme step and committed suicide.

Police officials investigating the case said that further details would emerge once the post mortem report is available for them for analysis.
