In the third quarter-final of the men’s doubles 35+ of the inter-corporate Pune badminton championship, 2018 held at Silver Sports Club, Wakad, the charismatic duo of Ravi Sarangapani and Snehal Kale fell short against the might of Ajit Gore and Devinder Singh, losing by a score of 13-15, 15-9, 10-15.
The game lived up to its expectations as both teams gave their all from the very first point. Gore played a very solid defensive game, letting his partner take the attack to the opponents. Within the first few minutes of the first game, Gore and Singh created a sizeable lead for themselves and managed to keep their noses ahead until they had the first game in the bag.
After a lengthy break between games, Sarangapani and Kale came out stronger on the two sides, and made their experience count, playing some fantastic cross-court badminton, leaving the opposition in awe. Throughout the second game, it was one-way traffic and the dup deservedly won it 15-9.
In the third set, both teams gave their all and it seemed impossible to call a winner after the first seven to eight points as there were service returns aplenty with the serve changing nearly every other point. However, once Gore and Singh clawed a sizeable cushion, they took full advantage of it and won the last five points of the contest to seal a spot in the semi-finals.
