Police sub-inspector shot at, when he was on official duty in Pune

Police have arrested three persons in connection with the incident and the sub-inspector have been identified as Nitin Mohite

A police sub-inspector, who visited Flavours Family restaurant in Wadgaon Maval on official duty, was shot at and injured on Friday night.

Police have arrested three persons in connection with the incident and the sub-inspector have been identified as Nitin Mohite.

The accused arrested have been identified as Dada Balu Dhavale ( 38), a resident of Punawale in Mulshi; Santosh alias Bitya Balasaheb Gaikwad (21) and Sunil Vilas Palkhe (27), a resident of Jambhe in Mulshi.

Suresh Nimbalkar, Wadgaon police station incharge, said, “A fight broke out at the hotel parking between Manoj Siddhaya Telgu (29) and his friend Dada Dhawale. When the police got to know about the incident, police sub-inspector Nitin Mohite and other police staff reached the spot to take them into custody for inquiry. Dada Dhawale who was coming out of the toilet at that time pulled out a pistol attached to his waist and opened fire at Mohite and the latter was shot in his thigh.”

“Police have seized the pistol from Dhawale and investigation is on,” Nimbalkar said.

Mohite was rushed to a private hospital at Somatane Phata where his condition is reported to be stable after the doctors removed the bullet.
