Pune constable killed after fight in bar; three booked

The victim and the three unidentified accused had got into an argument at a bar near Kupwad phata in Sangli.

A police constable in Miraj was allegedly killed in an attack with a sharp weapon by three unidentified persons on Wednesday in Sangli district, informed the Sangli police.

The deceased, identified as Samadhan Mante, 29, was posted as a police constable at the Miraj police station. He went to a bar near Kupwad phata in Sangli. At the bar, he had some argument with three persons.

According to the investigation officer, Mante was allegedly killed in an attack by a group of unidentified persons. “We have got information that a group of unidentified persons had drinks at the bar on Tuesday night. We are analysing the CCTV footage installed at the bar. The argument led to a scuffle, following which one of the accused attacked Mante with a sharp weapon,” the officer said.

Mante sustained injuries on his chest, head and stomach and was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead.Police have registered offences against the three unidentified persons under IPC Sections pertaining to murder. Police also said that further investigation is on.
