Pune youth attacked by group of eight armed with sharp objects

A group of eight to ten youngsters brutally attacked a 25-year-old with sharp weapons in Thergaon on Saturday night. According to police, the victim has been identified as Indrajeet Anand Mane, a resident of Srikrishna colony.

The victim was standing near Laxmi Traders shop in Thergaon when he was attacked by the assailants.

The incident has been captured on CCTV (closed circuit television) cameras based on which the crime branch teams are trying to track and arrest the accused.

A first information report (FIR) was registered at the Wakad police station by Ajay Tukaram Khanker (26), a resident of Thergaon. All the accused are absconding.

According to the police, Mane was talking to his friends- Ajay Khanekar, Mahesh Kumbharkar, Kiran Gore, Prathamesh Yeole and others, when he was attacked at 8.30 pm. When the attack took place, his friends fled the spot.

The attackers also abused other eyewitnesses who were present at the spot and threatened to kill them.

Police inspector Satish Mane said that investigation is going on to trace the attackers based on the CCTV footage and other details. “The injured is not in a position to tell us about the attackers,” he said.
