Savitribai Phule Pune University to introduce skilling workshop for paraplegic soldiers

The skill development centre under Savitribai Phule Pune University(SPPU) in colloboration with Shantanurao Laxmanrao Kirloskar chair, will organise a 10-day workshop on business and entrepreneurship, for the disabled army personnel. The inaugural function for the workshop was held on June 18, 2018 at the university campus. Jayashree Fadnavis, managing director of Elixir Training Services Company, was the chief guest of the inaugural function.

A total of 30 paraplegic personnel of the Indian Army has been selected by the department to attend the workshop. The main objective of the workshop was to boost the morale of the army personnel and to equip them with specific business and entrepreneurial skills and expose them to innovative concept in the sector. The soldiers have been selected from the Queen Mary's Technical Institute For Differently Abled Soldiers, Range Hills.

The workshop will focus on issues related to financial management, legal aspects of business and the role of various banks and start-up companies, in addition to the concept of business in diverse sectors such as retail and solar panel industry.

Captain C M Chitale, chief instructor of Shantanurao Kirloskar Studies, was also present at the event.
