An impressive bowling performance by Mrigank Rawal of Aryans Cricket Academy helps the team beat Dastur Boys by 6 wickets in the Captain Shivrampant Vishnu Damle trophy under-16 inter-club cricket tournament at the Katariya high school ground, Mukundnagar on Thursday.

The right arm spinner’s spell of 4-0-14-5 take the team to the semi-final stage.

Aryans won the toss and elected to bat first. Sahil Kad, the opener and skipper, played a one-man show in the first 10 overs of the game and scored 30 runs of 34 balls before being bowled out by Datsun Danial of Dastur Boys.

Jay Khengat shaped the game for Aryans in the death overs by hitting 21 runs of 25 balls and the team scored 93 runs at the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

For Dastur Boys, Shantanu Dhage (3-0-21-3) and Datsun Danial (3-0-13-2) bowled good spells and restricted the opponent to a low target. The Dastur Boys could not capitalise on the low target and collapsed 87 all-out in 19.4 overs with Rawal being their nemesis.

Chasing the target, Dastur’s opener Shantanu Dhage 11 (21b) and Arsin Kulkarni 15 (22b) played a good partnership of 26 runs from 40 balls before the middle order collapsed by scoring just 9 runs and losing 6 wickets.

It was Razeq Fallah 28 (19b) with the company of Viraj Kakade 13(9b) who bought the game closer to the target in the last overs of the game.

“The mindset and intention were to win the game. The pressure from Datur Boys was the reason we could not score any big partnerships. I am happy the team has entered the semis and the bowling department performed well,” said Sahil Kad, captain, Aryans Cricket Academy.

Sachin Das, captain of Dastur Boys, said that the players failed to win the game despite restricting the opponent to a low score. “The team needs to work on all departments,” he said.

Player of the Match: Mrigank Rawal

“I was told by the captain and coach to focus on wicket to wicket bowling with variations. I added speed while delivering the ball and more loop and extra turn, which helped me take 5 wickets.”
