A 15-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a vacant shop-cum-flat at Rishi Nagar area here on Saturday.

A 15-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a vacant shop-cum-flat at Rishi Nagar area here on Saturday.

Police said the girl, identified as Nisha, was suspected to have died due to drug overdose.

Passers-by noticed the body and informed the police following which the PAU police reached the spot and initiated investigation.

Sub-inspector Surinder Kumar Chopra, station house officer at the PAU police station, said Pokhi Ram, victim's father, told the police that his daughter, a beggar, had left the house on Friday evening and did not return. His mother of Nisha died around eight years ago.

Meanwhile, case under relevant sections of the CrPC had been registered.
