43,671 children administered anti-polio drops on Day 1

As many as 43,671 children below the age of five years were administered anti-polio drops in Rupnagar district on the first day of three-day pulse polio campaign on Sunday.

As many as 43,671 children below the age of five years were administered anti-polio drops in Rupnagar district on the first day of three-day pulse polio campaign on Sunday.

Rupnagar civil surgeon Dr Harinder Kaur inaugurated the campaign by administering anti-polio drops at booths set up by Rotary Club and Ek Noor charitable society at local Bela Chowk and Lehri Shah Mandir respectively.

She said the health department had fixed a target of administering anti-polio drops to 70,653 children in the district during three-day campaign.

She said that booths were set up at various places and teams were constituted to administer anti-polio drops to the children on the first day.

Civil surgeon said that on the first day of campaign 3,447 children were given anti-polio drops in Rupnagar town, 6,643 in Nurpur Bedi,1,279 in Nangal,1,740 in Morinda,7,866 in Chamkaur Sahib,10,624 in Kiratpur Sahib,1,766 in Rajnagar,7,879 in Bharatgarh and 2,427 children were administered anti-polio drops in Anandpur Sahib.

She said that the teams of health department would visit door-to-door during the next two days to administer anti-polio drops to the remaining children.
