6 of marriage party killed in Jammu & Kashmir road accident
The vehicle was on way to Chenani from Kud when it rolled down into the gorge after its driver lost control.
Six persons were killed and 11 injured when a bus carrying a marriage party plunged into a gorge near Chenani in Udhampur district of Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday night.
The accident took place near Garhian-Dhanas, around 12 kms from Chenani, when the mini-bus carrying a marriage party from Pachot village in Kud rolled down into the gorge after its driver lost control. The vehicle was on way to Chenani from Kud.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, a police official said, “The ill-fated bus was carrying a marriage party when it slipped off the road and plunged into a gorge at Sarori village in Chenani.” The mishap occurred around 8.35 pm on Sunday, he added.
He said five members of the marriage party died on the spot, while another person succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. The other injured have been shifted to a hospital in Udhampur.
