“We must ensure that the GST is aimed at facilitating all trade and business across the country and convince everybody, especially stakeholders that it will not end up as an instrument of harassment” he said in a statement here.
Amarinder, who is also the deputy leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, expressed satisfaction over the agreement on 18% cap on the GST that, he added, had been vigorously pursued by the Congress to ensure that the GST does not turn exorbitant in future.
He said several stakeholders, including small traders and businessmen, had expressed certain apprehensions and misgivings about the GST that needed to be removed.
“It is important that the actual stakeholders are convinced about the benefits of the GST,” he added.
