The high-voltage retreat ceremony along the India-Pakistan border got a Bollywood flavour on Wednesday, with thousands of tourists being welcomed by the voice of superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
Border Security Force (BSF) deputy inspector general (DIG) MF Farooqui inaugurated the 10-minute voice-over at the border on Wednesday evening. It was a pleasant surprise for tourists to hear Bachchan's famous baritone.
The voice-over tells the history and importance of the retreat ceremony, besides saluting the BSF's bravery.
Farooqui, who had met Bachchan in June, said, "We already had a voice-over in another voice. It was being played since the past few months. BSF director general (DG) DK Pathak appreciated the initiative and suggested that the voice-over be recorded by a celebrity. Since Bachchan is a living legend, we decided to approach him."
"The voice-over was recorded after I went to meet the Bollywood icon. When it was played at the border on Wednesday, it was a very proud moment for all of us," Farooqui added.
