The manager had reportedly stashed away majority of the cash into the strong room, while only Rs 40,000 was lying in the cash counter, when the miscreants barged into the bank. The security guard deployed at the bank had already deposited his gun and as the miscreants fired, he fled from the spot.

The accused were challenged by the shopkeepers, who started pelting stones. However, the accused managed to escape.

Batala SSP Tulsi Ram rushed to the spot and started investigations. He claimed that the accused would be arrested soon. The bank had no CCTV cameras.
