Vidhu's father Navneet Jain said, "Having received a call from the CBI team, I reached the town around 9.30 am and appeared before them. They said they would again come for questioning after a few days."
The CBI team also questioned Navneet's brother Vinod, who had complained to the police after the incident, and Vidhu's mother Aarti, who had approached the Punjab and Haryana high court for the CBI probe.

According to sources, three CBI officers from Delhi conducted the preliminary investigation. They collected the documents and CCTV footage and another video, allegedly captured by the police showing Vidhu suffering on the roadside. Now, an SP-level officer is likely to reach the town next week for further investigation.

Malerkotla police station in-charge (city 1) Harinder Singh said, "I took the officers to the spot where the incident had taken place. I also provided them the related documents."
