Majithia was addressing a gathering where he welcomed Congressmen, who and joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (B) at Bagga and Kazikot village in Majitha constituency on Monday. He added that the SAD-BJP alliance had always maintained that the PM was a “puppet in the hands of the Gandhi family”.

“Our stand has been vindicated by revelations made in the book by the Prime Minister’s former media adviser Sanjaya Baru, who has described that how the PM had little say in the PMO and every file was sent to Sonia Gandhi. If this is not the murder of democracy, what is it,” asked Majithia.

“The PM is just a face of the UPA government and like puppet he dances to the tunes of Sonia Gandhi, who is the real decision maker,” he said. He charged Gandhi with ignoring the interests of Punjab and said the state suffered at the hands of the UPA due to its discriminatory policies on industrialisation, farm loan waiver and other issues.

“Her only goal is to pursue personal interests of the family at the cost of country’s development and democracy. The way the UPA government was running for the past 10 years was unconstitutional, undemocratic and even immoral,” he said.
