The sleuths of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau have arrested a Punjab Police constable red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP of the bureau Bhupinder Singh said that constable Hoshiyar Singh, posted at Bhucho police post, was arrested by the team on Sunday.
"The constable had conducted a raid in the house of former panchayat member Raja Singh and recovered some bottles of country-made liquor and threatened Raja to register a case against him. The cop demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 in lieu of not registering a case and the deal was settled at Rs 18,000. Raja Singh paid the cop Rs 8,000 and assured him to pay the rest of the amount on Sunday," said the DSP.
He lodged a complaint with the bureau and the bureau laid a trap to catch him red-handed. The accused was arrested with the bribe money and a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him.
