Designer from Amritsar hangs self at Mohali house

In her suicide note, Sharanjit Kaur said she was taking the extreme step as she was depressed.

A 33-year-old woman, who worked as a designer with a private firm in Mohali, hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her paying guest accommodation in Phase 3 on Saturday.

Victim Sharanjit Kaur hailed from Amritsar and worked in a firm in Phase 8B.

In her suicide note, she blamed no one and said she was taking the extreme step as she was depressed.

Police said the woman’s divorce proceedings had been going on for the past two years.

The suicide came to light when the woman’s roommate returned in the evening.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Jagdish Singh, who is probing the case, said:“The woman was upset for the past few months. Her parents have been informed.”

The woman’s father retired from the public works department, he said.

22-yr-old woman ends life

A 22-year-old married woman was found dead in her house in Sector 52 on Saturday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Naina. She got married about three months back.

She was alone at home when she hanged herself, said police. No suicide note was found at the spot.

Police have initiated inquest proceedings. Postmortem will be conducted on Sunday.
