Dr Balwant Singh Hunjan, orthopedic surgeon at Hunjan Bone and Joint Hospital, Model Gram, was felicitated by mayor HS Gohalwaria in a function held in Friends Regency on Monday.
He was recognised and felicitated on successfully completing 1,200 computerised navigation knee replacement surgeries using latest generation computer navigation Orthopilot machine.
On the occasion, existing patients were invited and the patients who had undergone knee surgery also performed bhangra.
Singh said, “There are various reasons that make the computer navigation a supreme option as it increases the life of joint and results in greater stability and range of motion. It also reduces the risk of dislocation and revision surgery along with reduced blood loss during surgery leading to faster recovery.”
Computer navigation results in precise and errorless surgery thus ensuring shorter hospital stay that leads to faster return to a better quality of life, he added.
