Gurdaspur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gurpreet Singh Toor told Hindustan Times on Friday that one each company of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had been deployed in Dinanagar and Gurdaspur, besides Punjab Police personnel in sufficient number.

Toor said Gurdaspur city had been sealed and strict checking of vehicles entering the city was being done to avoid the entry of suspects and arms and ammunition into the town.

Toor said the residents could attend Independence Day functions any place in the district without any fear.
