Entry of commercial vehicles banned

The police commissioner has prohibited the entry of all commercial vehicles in the city with immediate effect from Monday. The entry of commercial vehicles is prohibited during particulars hours, which witness peak traffic.

Police commissioner Pramod Ban said the city was a industrial hub and commercial vehicles plying in the city roads often led to road accidents.

Therefore, to curb the mishaps, all commercial vehicles, including heavy, medium and light commercial vehicles, are prohibited from entering the limits of municipal corporation between 8am and noon, and 5pm and 9pm.

Exemption has been given to commercial vehicles plying on the national and state highways crossing the city from Jalandhar Bypass, Samrala Chowk and Sherpur Chowk.
