Excise officer roughed up in Baghapurana

An Senior police officials said Jagraj Singh along with some police officials raided the house of a scrap dealer, Balwinder Singh, at the village, who was allegedly involved in the business of illicit liquor. During the raid, two cartons of liquor were seized by the team.

An Senior police officials said Jagraj Singh along with some police officials raided the house of a scrap dealer, Balwinder Singh, at the village, who was allegedly involved in the business of illicit liquor. During the raid, two cartons of liquor were seized by the team.

Surjit Singh Grewal, senior superintendent of police, said the team of the excise department was in the vehicle with the accused and cartons of the confiscated liquor when two people, identified as Surjit Singh and Raju Singh, attacked the vehicle.

"The glasses of the vehicle were smashed during a scuffle with police officials. The three, including Balwinder Singh, fled with the liquor cartons," he added.

The SSP added that the investigation is on. "We have registered a case under Sections 186, 341 and 427 of the Indian Penal Code. Efforts are on to nab the three of accused who are absconding," said the SSP.
