The court of additional district and sessions judge Arun Gupta on Thursday awarded three-year imprisonment to each of six accused in a case of possessing fake currency. The police had recovered fake currency worth Rs 4.90 lakh from 11 persons nearly 10 years ago.

The Sadar police station had placed a naka near Garhi Ajit Singh village on March 28, 2002 and recovered fake currency from a Maruti car in which three persons were travelling in.
A case was registered against 11 persons - including Amrik Singh, Satwinder Singh, Surinder Pal Sharma, Satnam Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Kirpal Singh and five more - under various sections of the IPC. Two accused, Kuldeep and Rajeshwar, had already been declared proclaimed offender and three acquitted.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of the six persons.
