Faridkot jail inmate dies of tuberculosis

Meenu Singh, 26, a resident of Giddarbaha, who was serving his life term in a murder case, allegedly died of tuberculosis in PGI Chandigarh on Saturday.

Meenu Singh, 26, a resident of Giddarbaha, who was serving his life term in a murder case, allegedly died of tuberculosis in PGI Chandigarh on Saturday. He was reportedly first admitted to the civil hospital here and then was referred to the PGI where he died.

Sources said that the diseases such as tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C are afflicting many jail inmates because of drug addiction and other reasons. The post mortem of the deceased will be conducted on Monday.

Kulwinder Singh Thiara, superintendent of modern jail, Faridkot, confirmed the death of the Faridkot jail inmate." He was ill and proper treatment was being given to him as per rules," he said.
