Senior vice- president of the union Mothu Singh said that deputy superintendent of police, Maur, assured them of arresting the accused within a week after which they decided to lift the protest.

Farmers had been protesting since Monday demanding the arrest of accused Harinder Singh of Jeond village, who has been booked under section 420 IPC by the Rampura Sadar police for applying for a loan by mortgaging a piece of land, of which he is the owner but is not cultivating it himself and does not have the possession. Farmers had also blocked the Bathinda-Chandigarh road on this issue on Tuesday. DSP Maur, Gobinder Singh, didn't pick his phone despite attempts.
