Festive fashion for working women
From embellished ethnic wear to chic westerns in pastel hues, look no further than fashion-forward styling tips compiled by HT.punjab Updated: Sep 21, 2017 18:56 IST
Deciding what to wear for the festival season is hard enough, but having to worry about looking presentable in the office is even harder. As offices adorn a festive look, the struggle to find the right outfit to wear to work gets real. Striking a balance between festivities and work can be challenging. For those looking for work wear inspiration, look no further than fashion-forward styling tips compiled by HT.
Anupreet Sidhu, a Gen Next Lakme Fashion Week designer, says, “In terms of colour selection, red and olive green have dominated the collection this season. Apart from these, I recommend rose gold and burnt orange hues. For festive office wear, don a trench coat kurta or a funky block print silk saree. Experiment with blouse designs. For office festival parties, team up a metallic shirt with a well fitted pair of bottoms.”
Keeping it simple
Jaspreet Kaur, a fashion blogger and a graphic designer by profession, says, “There are certain outfits you can always count on for the 9-to-5 polished look. A crisp white button-down shirt teamed with a pair of boot cut jeans never goes out of fashion. Add the festive spirit to your outfit by pairing a pastel shirt with an ethno-jacket. Experiment with skirts this season; go for a skater skirt if you are bottom heavy or pair a blouse with an ankle-length flared skirt. Kitten heels and single sole nude heels are much in vogue this season, and they are appropriate for office, yet very stylish.”
The festive work wear collection from online websites captures the essence of Indian craft and heritage. Websites recommend kalamkari, ikat and hand-block prints for a versatile appeal. “Pair chinos with nagras and a vibrant ikat blazer to complete the festive look. Our festive work wear collection is bold, eclectic, and everything you need to celebrate festivals in style,”says an Ajio.com spokesperson.
Dress to impress
Sanya Doomra, a fashion enthusiast and a blogger, says, “Whether it’s adopting Kate Middleton’s immaculate tailored look or Sonam Kapoor’s chic separates, one should dress to impress. For festive work wear clothing, team up a kurta with a cape or an ethno- jacket. Complete the look with a palazzos or straight cut bottoms. Accentuate the waist with a belt and accesorise with contrast coloured piece of jewellery.”
Under the pastel spell
Naaz Arora, a student of MA (English) in MCM College and a fashion blogger, says, “Get inspired by fall runaway trends and liven your work wear with a pastel fusion dress, dhoti pants or a plain solid pastel blouse. Accessorising right is the key to balance your outfit. A vintage belt, a statement bag, and a comfortable pair of block heels will go perfectly well with any festive work wear outfit. Apart from pastel colours, red has dominated the fashion week this season.”
